It is clear that electric cars do not differ much from ordinary cars. But there is a very big change when we look at the power source and light baking material (chassis). This means that there are no more engine lumps as in ordinary vehicles.

Instead, there are several electric motors that connect directly to the wheels, either the front wheel (front wheel drive), rear (rear wheel drive), or all (four-wheel drive). Absent gearbox.

The history of electric cars actually began a long time ago, namely in 1828 (made by Anyos Jedlik) until 1900. Long before the establishment of the first car factory, Daimler-Benz, the electric car project did not continue due to costly considerations. and car’s speed. electricity is not as strict as an internal combustion engine.

Because the technology in the electricity sector is not as sophisticated as it is now, computers used as auxiliary tools cannot help much except because they have not been invented. (The first practical computer was invented in 1942 in the form of a calculator.)

Another thing that made electric vehicles inefficient at that time was the weight of the battery and the heavy bowl. So when we talk about the efficiency of using electric power as a source of driving a vehicle (at the time), it was still inferior to the internal combustion engine which was more powerful and efficient. This is the reason why at that time the internal combustion engine was chosen by people to drive the vehicle.

Along with the development of a sophisticated storage system for electric energy (a lower battery weight and which can store a lot of electricity reserves), which further increases the range of electric vehicles, it has considered the world’s car manufacturers to manufacture electric cars.

At least 1996 saw the emergence of electric cars that were manufactured and sold en masse for the first time. General Motors is trying to offer a vehicle called the EV1. But unfortunately, EV1 production stopped in 1999.

EV1 is only sold in two states in America, namely Arizona and California. With total sales of 2500 units, I personally think the EV1 has a problem charging batteries.

In fact, the GM EV1 is only a handful of the numerous vehicle manufacturers who have tried their luck at manufacturing electric cars. There is also an electric version of the Toyota RAV called RAV4-EV. Honda, Nissan, Chrysler have tried too, and all end up with the same reason: EFFECTIVE is a consideration!

Until 2003, Tesla was founded in Palo Alto, California. Tesla has changed the mindset about inefficient electric cars by launching a high-tech car that can drive more than 300 km with a single battery charge.

Efficiency issues can be solved by making the vehicle body / chassis of lightweight material. Advanced aircraft class technology is also embedded in all Tesla models, namely the automatic pilot system!

In the home country, BMW fully manufactures electric cars, namely the BMW i3. Apart from BMW, Tesla of course also sold a pioneer of electric cars and as a new player in the car market. Not only the two brands, even Smart has also enlivened the Indonesian market for electric cars.

The problem here is the limitation on the price of expensive electric cars, the limited charging stations for public electric vehicles. So far, PLN has built only 21 SPKLUs spread across a number of major cities on the islands of Java and Bali. This is what electric cars only demand in big cities.

Although the electricity of the house can also be charged, the problem is sometimes the problem when we travel outside the city. Though the coverage of a single charge electric motor can be more than 300 kilometers.

The above things still make the existence of electric motors very limited. But over time, when the PKLU (General Electric Vehicle Charging Station) stations spread out, I’m sure electric vehicles will replace cars with internal combustion systems. Will conventional cars with internal combustion systems still exist, or will they just disappear and enter museums?
